Yahoo! News - Blacks Lose Better Jobs Faster as Middle-Class Work Drops

This really saddens me. We live in a time when corporate diversity initiatives and university affirmative action efforts are under attack, yet we are seeing a particular ethnic group hit very hard by structural changes in the US economy. Is it a case of Booker T. syndrome? Blacks went for the jobs that they could prove they could do, that society would allow them to do? Maybe. Too bad those jobs were on the decline before blacks even got the invitation.

This is a rather frightening statistic to ponder:

"Not since the Depression has the nation's work force contracted for so many months after a recession began."
