WorldNetDaily: Democrats accused of racism on Bush nominees

Republicans: the race card, at your convenience

I can always depend on my insanely conservative and religious coworker to present me with amazing bastardizations and falsifications parading as fact in the Right's milieu. This article is no exception.

The Republicans have decided that Americans are stupid. They are playing politics with the law, and will negatively affect the drive toward a fair and just society for all for some time to come with their nominations of right-wing activist judges. People like Miguel Estrada and Janice Rogers Brown are nominated to the federal courts precisely because they are minorities, not because of any excellent judicial record. Furthermore, Republicans know full well that the Democrats will balk at their nominations in spite of the fact that Dems are pro-affirmative action and diversity. This puts Dems in the unfortunate position of blocking the confirmation of individuals that, on the surface, look like barrier-breakers. The Repubs do this to accumulate ammunition down the road. That is extremely dishonest, and it irks me to no end to hear them then use the race card against Democrats who are voting their conscience. Kennedy's reference to the latest blocked nominees as "Neanderthals" was not a description of their physique nor their intellect, but of their ideologies. Get a grip.
