Seattle Post-Intelligencer: AP - Music

Cemetary Gates

A crazed fan opened fire on the crowd at a Damageplan show in Columbus, OH. Being a red state, officially, this is all the more reason to steer clear of that state. Where they let people with guns into metal shows.

Four people were killed, including influential heavy metal guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott. You may recognize the name. He was once the guitarist behind the seminal metal band of the 1990s, Pantera. He used to go by "Diamond Darrell," and he wrote a column in Guitar World Magazine. Darrell's brother, Vinnie, was also killed in the altercation.

I have been debating the significance of Darrell's death with a fellow guitar enthusiast, and he's being an ass about the whole thing.
