I've been busy, so my comments on Barack Obama's speech on race have been missing from this blog. And will continue to do so, because I'm still busy.
As a biracial person who also identifies as black, I really appreciated the speech, and much like the folks in the NY Times article regarding mixed race (though, I think being mixed like Barack and me is a little different from some of the other people profiled in the article), I did feel that he honored the struggle that many mixed-race individuals face in developing an identity in a country focused on single categorization.
I also really liked this segment from Day to Day from Monday. It was both informative and hilarious. Can't beat that.
