More fun than you can shake a stick at

The Sacramento Institute of Fun is up to it again: creating fun, educational and social opportunities for the Renaissance people of Sacramento. There are several upcoming events that may tickle your fancy.

Next Friday, the 9th, brings Art De-Mystified, which is an introduction to art appreciation presented in concert with the Crocker Art Museum. For this event, a docent from the Crocker will give a seminar that involves some of the Crocker collection, a smattering of art history, and the three easy steps to art appreciation. The event will be held at Revolution Wines (21st & P), and includes free food and a tasting flight from the winery. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Discounts are available for wine club members, institute of fun members, Crocker members, and students.

Two weeks after the art event, SIF is having another jazz event. This time, Adam Jenkins, who taught the jazz appreciation class previously, will teach a class on jazz history. I attended the jazz appreciation class and had a great time. Adam is a funny and creative presenter, so I look forward to this event as well.

In February, there will be a massage night, March will feature astronomy, and in April we'll be learning about whiskey. More details on these events forthcoming.
