I had a great New Year's Day open house yesterday. I decided to make the things that my family always ate to welcome the new year-- black-eyed peas and ham, spinach dip in a bread bowl, cheese logs. Since none of these things come in single servings, I decided to have an open house. I figured maybe 10 people would filter their way through my place over the course of the day.
Awesomely, significantly more than a few of my pals came by. It pleased me greatly to have everyone stuffed into my living room and kitchen. I ran out of peas and we drank all the wine and then some.
It was a fantastic way to start the new year.
